Yesterday I had a nice long chat with Nova Spivak, the chief of Radar Networks, which has developed the first commercial application for the so-called semantic Web. After he walked me through the site (via Glance, a Web-Ex-y kind of thing), we agreed that it would make for a nifty place to host a crowdsourcing group. I'll begin exploring it later today, and over the next few weeks everyone who identified themselves as being interested in crowdsourcing research will receive an invite to join the group. Crowdsourcing: A Definition
- I like to use two definitions for crowdsourcing:
The White Paper Version: Crowdsourcing is the act of taking a job traditionally performed by a designated agent (usually an employee) and outsourcing it to an undefined, generally large group of people in the form of an open call.
The Soundbyte Version: The application of Open Source principles to fields outside of software.
The Rise of Crowdsourcing
