I always find this kind of thing a bit weird.
One Book, One Twitter is a global thing, isn't it? So why are changes to it dependant on 'national attention'? And timed for a specfic location? That's not a very global response is it.
Mind you, as you say, you can pretty much do as you want.

Just so Allan. I'm duly chastised. It would be one thing if the participants seemed mostly American, making us global in name only. But the fact is that we genuinely seem to hail from all over the world. What I should say is that All Things Considered is available around the world, and it's our first major bit of attention. Point well taken.

Halp! Where's the link to vote? I've scoured this page and Wired's page, lots of links but none are the one we need to participate. Please put the link right in our faces, so we can take you up on this! Thank you, kindly.

Mia, the link in this very article, the word 'voting', leads straight to it.
And he has always put it in a very clear spot.
Hope this helps.

I was interviewed by NPR reporter Laura Sydell. The story was bumped by a big news day yesterday and is supposed to air today, April 28.

This project has been horribly, horribly executed - good intentions gone awry. It seems more like an exercise in self-aggrandizement than a public-spirited exercise.

Why Jen? I don't claim to have been a perfect administrator, but it seems to have gone pretty well so far. I do wish NPR had run their piece, but that's their business not mine. And I'm not sure whose self has been aggrandized. Weird. I do want to explain the thrust of your criticisms, so please explain. Thanks.

extended by one day. The reason for this is twofold: One, NPR is airing a segment about the project this afternoon, and it seemed ridiculous to close the voting mere hours after we received our first bit of national attention. Two, we can pretty much do what we want. Isn't that fun? Voting will now close at 12 AM, extended by one day. Great article, I think you covered everything there. . . I would say freelancing is quite hard especially if you are not used to working on your own, can be quite hard to motivate yourself also. . . we all know what it is like to stare at the monitor.

We have the ideal technology at our fingertips—Twitter. All we need Namely, that most of our relationships are determined by geography. On the Internet—where affinity is more powerful than geography—that's just not the case anymore.
