About Me

Crowdsourcing: A Definition

  • I like to use two definitions for crowdsourcing:

The White Paper Version: Crowdsourcing is the act of taking a job traditionally performed by a designated agent (usually an employee) and outsourcing it to an undefined, generally large group of people in the form of an open call.

The Soundbyte Version: The application of Open Source principles to fields outside of software.

The Rise of Crowdsourcing

  • Read the original article about crowdsourcing, published in the June, 2006 issue of Wired Magazine.

I am starting a new crowdsourcing project and came to your blog looking for ideas. The purpose of 50 Best Tools is to track, evaluate and reivew the best Web based applications that require no downloads. With a new Web 2.0 site opening everyday, I believe crowdsourcing is a good solution to: 1) consider many entries we would otherwise not know about, 2) and to draw on the wisdom on crowds to select the best.

I'm Living in Monterrey, NL Mexico, and English is my second language. I don't feel like an expert in crowdsourcing, but more like a learner. Perhaps my findings may contribute to your blog, and would be glad to be your Spanish-speaking correspondent.
